Dr Paul Harty

Speciality: General Practice

Paul is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin having qualified in 1979. Paul’s hospital training took place in Dublin encompassing a wide range of specialities including Paediatrics, General Medicine, Psychiatry, Renal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Surgery.

Paul has a great knowledge of General Practice in Cork, since setting up here in 1983. Paul has an active interest in Mens’ Health, Preventive Medicine, Child
Health and Occupational Medicine. Paul has been a medical officer for the UCC Rugby Club for over 10 years and maintains a keen interest in Sports Medicine.
Paul has diploma qualifications in both Child Health and Obstetrics.

Dr Jim Harty

Speciality: General Practice

Jim graduated from UCC in 2003 and began his hospital training in the South Infirmary/Victoria University Hospital and CUH. Jim spent a year working in Brisbane, Australia where he gained more experience in Accident & Emergency Medicine.

On returning to Ireland, Jim worked in Medicine for the Elderly, Palliative Medicine and Oncology before commencing formal GP training in Cork. This structured, 4 year training incorporated hospital posts in Paediatrics, General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Palliative medicine and Psychiatry. Jim also practiced with GP surgeries in Skibbereen, Friars Walk and Blackpool before completing his GP training in 2011.

Jim has a special interest in Medicine for the Elderly, Chronic Disease Management (Asthma, Diabetes etc.), Paediatrics and Palliative Medicine. Jim has a Masters in Sports & Exercise Medicine from UCC and takes an active role in ongoing medical education.

Ms Trish O' Connor

Speciality: Practice Nurse

Trish graduated from her Diploma in Nursing in 2003, going on to complete her Bsc in Nursing Studies in 2004. Trish gained invaluable experience in nursing in
CUH. Trish worked in areas of nursing as diverse as Accident + Emergency, Neurosurgery, General Medicine and Community Nursing before becoming a practice nurse.

Trish completed a Higher Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work in UCC in 2008. Trish is a registered cervical smeartaker for CervicalCheck. Trish also completed further Nursing Education at UCC School of Nursing in the area of Diabetes Management. Trish has a special interest in Womens’ Health, Childhood Immunisation, Travel Health, Occupational Health and Diabetes Management.
